now that my predinisolone drops have been reduced from 6 times a day to 4 times that means a new schedule. The oddity of the new schedule is that I will now finish my drops later instead of sooner but less often. every 4 hours instead of 2 hours delays my final drop 2 hours

The appointment was great but long
Just got out of the appointment with flying colors. My cornea is healing well and my prednisone is being cut down from 6 times a day to 4 times a day.
Only bummer was an unexpected 1 and a half hour wait between stages of the appointment. Two more months of the shield.
In the next two months I get to slowly start removing the sutures one at a time!
So my next monthly checkup on my Left Eye is coming up
So tomorrow is my monthly checkup. One item under consideration is weather or not to reduce the amount of times a day i need my predinisone eye drops. It’s currently at six times a day. I expect things to go well my left eye can see most text on my tv though struggles a bit on smaller text and it can almost read off my iPad so things are looking fairly optimistic.
I anticipate to be able to start the removal of the sutures soon giving that I was able to do DALK and not PK thus recovery time is much shorter. Once removal of the sutures starts its only one at a time and is a real long process in itself. But we’ll just see what the doctor says on my appointment. I may even get a surprise to be able to get my new prescription setup. Got my eyes on a new eye glasses frame and I’m super stoked to eventually get it.
Below is a pic of the frames i want so bad
Whelp hard to belive but its already been a month since the surgery!
Today marks the first full month since my cornea transplant!. Things are going well so far. My next appointment at Wolfe Eye Clinic is in 5 days I might even get to stop using the shield when its bedtime.
So the yoyo vision is a thing. This comes as no surprise
As predicted I am noticing the overall vision of my left eye switching from better to worse. The overall difference isn’t all that much. This is within expectations and won’t be getting stable vision for quite some time.
My right eye does similar decent vision when I wake up and definitely need my glasses by the evening. Overall there has been very little changes going on for the past week and likely won’t see any changes until my next appointment on the 28th. In this case no news is good news in the long trip of recovery.
So getting another unexpected surprise
So when I went back to my semi normal routine but cutting the activity level in half going from 1,200 calories burned a day to 600 I expected to maintain my current weight or slowly gain. But it turns out that I am still slowly loosing weight. I started off at 256 pounds now I am 218.
Lol the itchiness
Would be nice if this ithciness bit would at the very least be consistant. Every now and then I get an itchiness sensation just after i take my drops. But its very random in occurance which is both a blessing and some oddity that has me bugged as to why its happening lol.
And no more Vigamox
As of now I have used up the Vigamox and now I am no longer needing to use it from now on it’s prednisone and artificial tears.
Another small step to normalcy
While I should be refraining from straining myself or lifting anything heavy I can still go on my walks. Before the transplant I had my Apple Watch set with an activity goal of 1,200 calories burned in a day but being I’m having to keep it easy for now I’ve lowered the goal to 600. With that in mind I managed to meet the weekly goal (simply meeting the daily goal for a week straight) for the first time since the surgery.
So while checking if this blog got on google I realized how lucky I am.
So a few days ago I got this blog registered on google search console to see about getting a bit more traffic and stumbled on an article about this Emmy winning actor Mandy Patinkin who was diagnosed with Keratoconus in 1982 was on Chicago Hope playing the role of a doctor. She was being treated with gas permeable hard contact lenses. One day while driving her instance of the disease progressed to the point where she was too far along for the contacts and didn’t realize it until her cornea ruptured.
This story reminds me of how my situation started off had I have listened to the quack at LensCrafters who wanted me in contacts even though I preferred glasses. The LensCrafters optometrist also didn’t seem to know any proper medical terminology and would only say that I have a wavy cornea. Had I not have gotten a second opinion what happened to Mandy could have easily have happened to me especially when Wolfe Eye Clinic has spotted minor scarring on their initial examination after being referred from my Second opinion Millers Family Eye Care which is where my grandmother went but the location wasn’t ideal.
It is really important that you get a second opinion if you’re ever in doubt or you’re facing something serious doing so could save you so much misery or even your life.
