Got Fitted For Scleral Lenses Today!!!

So today was the day I was to get fitted for scleral contacts.

I am very happy to report that I can get 20/20 back in my Left Eye. I was hoping for this result after my cataract surgery. The best I could get with RGP’s that weren’t really stable was 20/25.

I so cant wait till I can get things settled things will be very much normal afterwords.

Today Is Another Milestone

Today makes week 4 of the four week recovery.

Given how smoothly my last appointment was I can safely assume that I should be fully recovered from this point forward. The only thing I’m waiting for is getting fitted with my sclerals before things are truly back to normal once again,

Final Post Op Checkup Went Well

Today I had my final Post Op checkup for my cataract surgery.

I am pleased to report that it has been a great success and healing is going great so far.

This also means that I can finally get started with my contacts and got notified just today that my insurance is approving my scleral contacts saving me so much money.

Things are starting to look good for my eye situation and I cant wait till I get my vision back as I’ve been going uncorrected since I started to have issues with my RGP’s and felt its time for an upgrade ,

One Step Towards Normalcy Once Again

Today makes day one of no eye drops since the cataract surgery.

This also means its one step towards everything returning back to normal once again. I still have one more week to be considered fully recovered.

The next step to normalcy is when I finally get fitted into scleral contacts and get adjusted to them then life will be as normal as it will be post diagnosis.

Another Milestone With Another Tomorrow

Today marks week three of my estimated four week recovery. So far things have been going smoothly.

Today is also the last day that I need to take my 3 eye drops 3 times a day.

This also makes tomorrow’s milestone being the first day I get to go without using my eye drops. I am hoping to get started with my scleral fitting on Thursday.

Another Milestone Has Been Reached

Today 4 years ago I was at Wolfe Eye Clinic. This visit confirmed my keratoconus diagnosis that Millers Family Eye Care suspected which resulted in me being referred to the clinic.

My cornea was only 300nm thick (a normal cornea is 550-650nm) in my left eye at the time.

Time sure goes by fast it feels like more of a year. In just over a week I should be fully recovered from my recent cataract surgery.

Today makes week 2 of recovery

Today marks the 2 week point of the recovery.

Things are going smoothly and the more risky time period should be past now.

Just one more week of eye drops and that will mark the next big milestone until I should be considered fully recovered.

I am thankful that there isn’t any complications popping up given that its the same eye that had the DALK transplant.

1 Week In My Month Long Recovery And All Is Well

Today makes exactly 1 week since my cataract surgery and I had my 1 week follow up appointment today.

The results are very favorable to me and I can ALMOST see 20/20 with glasses have it not been for severe shadowing. The shadowing is happening in such a wierd way each and every letter has its own unique tail.

Only 3 more weeks until I should be fully healed.

Today Is 4 Year Anniversary of Unofficial Diagnosis

Four years ago today I was at Miller’s Family Eye Care. This was when I was originally told that I likely have keratoconus and that I needed to see a cornea specialist.

I was then referred to Wolf Eye Clinic to confirm the diagnosis and setup a plan of treatment. Little did I know that a cornea transplant would be my first course of treatment.

Time sure goes by quickly it doesn’t feel like four years has already went by. My next milestone will be in July 11.

So Far So Good Optimistic Of My Outcome

It has been two days since the surgery and the dilation has returned to normal already.

I am already able to read a few things without correction which is better then expected as my corneal astigmatism is too high for a toric IOL to be usefull. Colors are also a great deal more vibrant.

This is leaving me in high hopes that I can get from 20/25 back to 20/20 once I get recovered enough for contacts. This time I plan on giving scleral contacts a shot for better stability and comfort. I was previously using RGP’s
